The British International Freight Association (BIFA) is the main association representing the freight industry in the UK.

BIFA represents UK companies engaged in international freight by all modes of transport, air, road, rail and sea. BIFA has around 1400 corporate members, known generally as freight forwarders, offering a wide and full range of services within these various modes.

The Requirement

To replace an existing BIFA website with a new and enhanced site that was easy to use and provided access to various serivces for members. The new site would also need to encompass a new online BIFA Library. The Library comprises an online knowledge base for UK freight businesses and encapsulates many years knowledge and experience into an easily accessed resource.

The new site would need to provide them with the administrative tools to allow BIFA staff to populate and manage content within the main site, They would also need to be enabled to manage and update the content of the library. In addition the site would form the hub of an enhanced member communication system allowing members to access information from the web, by email or RSS feeds.

The site would also act as a tool for non BIFA members or prospective member clients to find local or specialised BIFA members. To this end the site has secure access to the BIFA member database and attendant member capabilities and geographic data.

The Project

The site outlines the corporate messages of who BIFA are, what their objectives are, what services they supply plus direct contact details for all staff in the organisation. It also carries up to date information, news and events relating to the freight industry.

The new members area, which is password protected, includes localised information and events as well as full access to the BIFA library and online resources.
